The Gourmet Abu Dhabi food festival celebrates all aspects of Middle Eastern cuisine with chefs and serious foodies from all over the world attending. Chef masterclasses, chateau dinners and themed events make it a festival that's full of attractions over its 16 days. Organised and presented by the Abu Dhabi tourism board, the festival highlights the best businesses in the local food and beverage industry by awarding the much coveted Gourmet Star to those who stand out. The 10th edition of the awards ceremony that celebrates the world’s best restaurants. London’s Guildhall hosts the event, which is sure to be full of surprises for its tenth birthday. This is one of the most prestigious and sought-after prizes in the food world, in honour of one of America’s cornerstones of the culinary arts, James Beard. Each year, an award is given out to the world’s best chef, restaurateur, food writer and journalist. 2012, however, will see four new categories: Outstanding Bar Program, Food Coverage in a General Interest Publication, Food Coverage in a Food-Focused Publication and Visual Storytelling. Beginning with Dubai and Sydney, taking place respectively from the 8th -10th and 8th – 11th of March, the series then continues on to Milan from May 17th – 20th before stopping in Amsterdam from May 31st – June 3rd and then in London from 21st – 24th June. Spring and Summer, for foodies, is all about the Taste Festivals – a culinary format that travels around the world, proposing dishes prepared by the best local chefs, together with wine and water tastings, cooking lessons, demonstrations and presentations from regional producers.
London Olympic Games 2012 – Sport Your Food

The world is already counting down for the next edition of the Olympic Games, which will begin on the 27th of July, 2012 in London. For the occasion, the art world will join forces with the culinary world for the Sport Your Food manifestation: an exhibition of contemporary art conceived by the IMA International Festival, that will host five chefs and five artists who will work in tandem on five Olympic disciplines.
Chef Massimo Bottura will work with the artist Gregg LeFevre, the chef Cristina Bowerman with the artist Fulvio di Piazza, the chef Lorenzo Cogo together with Silvio Giordano, chef Nuno Mendes together with the artist Gayle Chong Kwan, and Hooni Kim pairs with Shigeru Oyatani. After Milano and New York, where the exhibition will arrive in May and June respectively, the world tour of Sport Your Food will conclude in London during the month of July, just in time for the Opening Ceremony of the Summer Games.
