If you are a fan of science fiction and all things medieval, you are surely aware of the Game of Thrones. This fantasy television show inspired by the George R.R. Martin novels has become a phenomenon of epic proportions. Interestingly enough, the bloody battle between good and evil in the land of Westeros has stirred the appetite of fans eager for the show's cuisine.

Thanks to the Game of Thrones, medieval cookery has seen a revival in two cookbooks (one of which is the unofficial kitchen companion to the show). The cookbooks feature dishes from the show, including Targaryen Dragon Mead and Khaleesi's Heart. But the cookbooks are not all about gory recipes. You'll also find tasty recipes like Arya's lemon cakes, an ode the character of a sword-fighting young girl portrayed by actress Maissie Williams.

The Game of Thrones has inspired a slew of blogs about the food on the show. One very dedicated fan has come up beer labels that he sells so fellow fans can enjoy Winterfell lager and the like while watching the latest episode of their beloved television series.

Just one question remains: what will hungry fans demand next?
