The world waits to find out which restaurants will make The World's 50 Best Restaurants List 2012 on the 30th April at London's Guildhall. Grant Archatz - Alinea - Chicago

The Huffington Post have published a nice interview with the mastermind behind the food at the Alinea restaurant, Grant Archatz. Archatz's Alinea restaurant in Chicago was voted 6 on The Worlds 50 Best Restaurants list in 2011 and took the award for Best Restaurant in North America. The picture above is of the chef's take on peant butter and jelly.

The Huff spoke to Archatz about his recent battle with tongue cancer and what it was like to loose his taste, arguably his most important weapon. It's a thoughtful interview with the chef who goes on to discuss what it was like to regain his taste slowly and how it may have made him a better chef.

Daniel Boulud - Daniel - New York

A video of chef Daniel Boulud discussing his new restaurant development with the designer Thomas Schlesser. Schlesser designed the interior of Boulud's famous DBGB restaurant where the chef serves upscale burgers and meats. The video is an interesting look at the relationship between restaurant owner and designer and is reveals a lot about how strong the bond between the pair was.

Boulud, who runs the Daniel restaurant in New York, placed 11 on The Worlds 50 Best Restaurants list in 2011. He talks about how well Schlesser understood the direction he wanted to go with his new venture, going as far as to say: “He understood me better than I understood myself.”

Less than ten days to go...

With yesterday marking the 10 day countdown to the 2012 world's 50 Best Restaurants the online magazine Big Hospitality have put together some great pieces on the awards. They've released a video about what makes a world class restaurant.

To mark this year being the tenth anniversary of the list Big Hospitality will also be producing an audio podcast examining the impact the list has had on the restaurant industry since its inception.
